For the longest time leaders in our city wondered how they could make our city better by incorporating some assets that we already have. We have three rivers running through Fort Wayne, so they came up with Promenade Park around ten years ago. They really knocked it out of the park. My sons and I rented a two-person kayak for $30 and two hours. They give you a couple of life jackets and set you free to visit Fort Wayne’s fabulous three rivers. They also have party boats that you can rent as a group for a couple hours. My team just rented one this week for a team building event. This park is open untill 11:00 PM every night, and there’s some really cool lighting set up around here. They have outdoor musical instruments that you can go play, like the xylophone or percussions. They even have a water bowl for your dog, and go across the elevated bridge across the river to go to children’s play area.
The main pavilion is a great place for hanging out and has music and a place to get food and drinks. They also have yoga classes on occasion. They have an outdoor concrete games such as ping-pong, foosball, and bean bag toss. The landscaping is really cool, and they did a great job incorporating an outdoor aquatic environment.
Just a short walk from Promenade Park is The Landing project. There’s live music here as well, a bunch of shops, restaurants, and an awesome coffee shop.
